McDonald’s Canada has announced that an employee at one of their Surrey locations has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday, July 7, a McDonald’s employee from the 17960 56 Avenue location reported that they tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee’s last shift was on July 1 from 12 pm to 4 pm. All staff who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further information is available.

This location has now been shut down for thorough cleaning and sanitation by a certified third party.

“We are working to ensure our timeline to reopen happens as quickly and safely as possible, as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities,” said the company in a statement to Daily Hive.

McDonald’s Canada is asking for any guests who have questions to take direction from experts at the BC Centre for Disease Control.
