Man dead after early morning Surrey house fire

A man has died following a house fire in Surrey that happened early Wednesday morning.

At around 1 a.m. on May 11, the Surrey RCMP say they were called to a home in the 9000 block of 148 Street that caught fire. Surrey Fire Service and BC Ambulance were also on-scene.

When they arrived, they found a 55-year-old man who was already dead. A middle aged woman was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation in very serious condition.

While the Surrey RCMP says the investigation is in early stages, the serious crime section is taking the lead.
