Road closures in effect after driver killed in Surrey crash

One driver is dead and another is in the hospital after an early morning car accident in Surrey.

RCMP said in an email that the incident took place at approximately 6:50 am. Police received reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 40th Avenue and 176th Street.

One driver did not survive the crash.

The other was taken to the hospital has non-life threatening injuries. Officers also say that although the investigation is in early stages, impairment from alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor.

Until further notice, a road closure will be in effect for 176th Street between the intersection of Highway 10 and 32nd Avenue, as well as between 168th Street and 176th Street. Drivers and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
