Police investigating after body found in burned-out vehicle in Surrey

An overnight vehicle fire in Surrey has resulted in an investigation into what police are calling the suspicious death of the person inside.

At 12:20 am on Wednesday, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 18700 block of 24th Avenue.

Upon their arrival, officers found a body inside the burned-out SUV.

While details at this point are slim, police said the area surrounding the scene has been be cordoned off for a “significant amount of time.”

In addition, The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.
