Blue wave hits Surrey as BC Conservatives clinch major victories
A blue wave has hit Surrey as the BC Conservatives saw major wins across the city during Saturday’s provincial election.
Surrey was a key battleground for both the BC NDP and Conservatives, with each party directing a steady stream of major platform promises in the city.
For example, both the BC NDP and Conservatives promised to extend the SkyTrain to Newton and to build a third hospital in Surrey. The city was also a key battleground in 2024, when the BC NDP secured four out of 10 Surrey ridings, and the BC Conservatives got six.

Tonight, however, the Conservative Party of British Columbia secured a majority government long before all the Surrey ridings were called.
The four ridings that the BC NDP previously held are Surrey-Fleetwood, Surrey-Newton, Surrey-City Centre, and Surrey-Guildford.
Elenore Sturko, leader of CentreBC, lost her seat to Conservative candidate Nicholas Cartmell.
Here are the preliminary election results across Surrey’s ridings. At the time of publication, the ridings that do not have a candidate listed in bold have not been called yet.
