One dead after shooting in Surrey

One person is dead from gunshot wounds and Surrey police are investigating, after being called to the 12900 block of 96 Avenue in response to reported gunfire, just after 9 pm on Monday night.

When police arrived at the scene they found the victim inside a vehicle that had crashed into the sign at the McDonald’s restaurant.

Despite the efforts of first responders, the individual succumbed to their injuries.

The incident is believed to be targeted.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a “significant” amount of time, Surrey RCMP said in a release.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP. Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase and no further information is being provided at this time.
