Sunset and Second Beach Closed due to high levels of E. Coli

Dec 19 2017, 8:06 am

Both Sunset and Second Beach have been closed due to high levels of E. coli found in the water.

A swimming advisory has been issued at both popular Vancouver beaches as the bacteria could threaten the health of anyone that gets in the water.

English Bay beach remains open since it did not test positive for elevated E. coli levels.

The closure is expected to last several days. The beaches will remain open, you just won’t be able to set foot in the water.

If you think you may have come into contact with the tainted water, do the following:

  • Avoid contact with beach water
  • Shower immediately afterwards
  • Wash your hands with soap and water before eating

Symptoms associated with E. coli are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
