It’s summer – you’re ready to throw on a pair of shorts and get wild.

You’re amped to bond with your awesome friends but you’re looking to meet new ones too. You can’t help but think you’re ready to experience the great outdoors and you’re dying to feel like a kid again. You’re searching for the perfect excuse to take photos that you can decorate your Instagram with – to create memorable experiences that will make you want to press rewind.

So it’s time to get out there and do something about it. And luckily, you’ve finally found a place where you can make all that magic happen.

This summer you can go to the highly anticipated Sunfest Country Music Festival from Thursday, August 3 to Sunday, August 6 in Vancouver Island’s illustrious Cowichan Valley. But don’t be deceived by the name of the festival because it’s a place where even the country haters will rejoice. In fact, you can call this your summer vacation – seriously.

We’ve compiled a list of the top seven awesome things at Sunfest that even someone who’s not a country music enthusiast will love.

Camping

Summertime means getting outdoors and camping means you can finally fall asleep underneath the stars. At the Sunfest Country Music Festival you can get an early camping pass valid for up to four guests…for just $145. And the campground stretches out over 172-acres so you’ll have plenty of space to choose the perfect spot.

Slip N’ Slide

This is just one of the uber fun activities you can enjoy at the festival that makes adulting amazing. Round up your friends and see who can go the furthest on the slide without slipping off. You can also try out human foosball or bounce yourself merry on the festival’s bouncy castle.

Cowichan Lake

The festival area is only five minutes away from Vancouver Island’s largest and arguably most beautiful lake so taking a dip is an absolute must. Temperatures at the lake often reach higher than 24 degrees celsius during the summer. Couple this with the stunning backdrop of British Columbia’s mountains and you’ve found yourself the ultimate vacation destination. What’s not to love?

Music lineup

Sunfest is a premier music festival that country fans will swoon over – and their positivity is contagious. There will be three music stages and each of them will have a different sound. You’ll get to hear artists like Toby Keith, Little Big Town, Chris Janson, Bobby Wills, Corb Lund, Madeline Merlo, Nicole Sumerlyn, Rollin’ Trainwreck, Ben Klick, and The County Line among many other acts. Expect cowboy hats but don’t worry, even if you don’t wear one you’ll love the ice cold beer.

Beach volleyball

Take a break from concert-watching and get pumped to play a game of beach volleyball. For starters, it’s free and super fun. That’s exactly what you want in a vacation and it’s something you won’t find at any regular musical festival.

Flush toilets

We’re living in the 21st century, so why should you have to suffer with gross amenities? You heard it, there’s going to be flush toilets at Sunfest. You’ll get to experience a better level of comfort and class which is exactly what you want when you’re enjoying the ultimate camping experience.

Shuttle busses

You don’t have to worry about bringing your car with you to the festival because there will be shuttle busses available from Comox, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Duncan. And that means you can simply walk on the ferry and enter full vacation mode pronto.
