Summer Night Concerts at the Fair at the PNE 2014
The Fair at the PNE is one of the most popular end of summer traditions for people across B.C. and from around the world. This year, the PNE will bring a new Game of Thrones exhibition, an Internet Cat Video Festival and an impressive lineup of performers for Summer Night Concerts at the Fair at the PNE.
Many popular artists from a wide variety of genres will grace the WestJet Concert Stage at the PNE Amphitheatre—kicking off this weekend with Phillip Phillips.
Some of the highlights include:
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts: Joan Jett is many things—a songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer and rock ‘n roll icon. As the leader of the Blackhearts, she’s had nine Top 40 singles, including “I Love Rock ‘N Roll,” “Bad Reputation” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.” She was one of only two women to be named on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time.
Boyz II Men: One of the most iconic R&B groups—Boyz II Men made their mark in the 90s with their soulful harmonies and emotional ballads. Some of their most popular hits include “I’ll Make Love To You,” “End of the Road” and “On Bended Knee.” With four Grammy Awards and 60 million albums sold—they are the best-selling R&B group of all time.
Phillip Phillips: The American Idol Season 11 winner captures audiences everywhere with his soulful, raspy voice. His biggest hits include “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone.” His first album The World from the Side of the Moon debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200. He released another album, Behind The Light, earlier this year with singles “Raging Fire” and “Fly.”
Zendaya: Platinum-selling recording artist and Disney Channel actress Zendaya delivers pop tunes with a bit of an edge. The 17-year-old’s first single “Replay” sold over a million copies in the U.S. and has over 60 million views on VEVO. She was also the youngest contestant ever to compete on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars—and was the runner up in the 16th season of the show.
