Meet the 3-ingredient cocktail we'll be sipping all summer

The restraints of daily life in isolation have been both challenging and enlightening.

We’ve had to get creative with time that is normally occupied by social activities, events, and general outings. Naturally, it’s allowed many of us to dedicate more time towards finding new hobbies or delving deeper into things that have always interested us. 

Most recently, we’ve used this extra time to find our inner mixologists, scouring our pantries in the quest for the perfect quarantini. The results? Let’s just say we found the perfect pantry-friendly cocktail — and we plan on sipping it all summer long. 

Meet: the Disaronno Fizz.

The ease of throwing simple, fresh ingredients together with the distinct taste of Italian liqueur is what makes this one so special. Even better is the fact that you’ll likely find all the ingredients you need sitting right in your fridge.

So, you can delight in creating your own concoction without having to source weird ingredients and fancy bitters (AKA no extra trips to the grocery store).

Plus, it just tastes good. I guess it’s no wonder Disaronno has maintained the same amaretto recipe for over five hundred years.

Whipping this together is super simple: find a couple of fresh lemons, reach for the club soda (or sparkling water), get the Disaronno, and you’re set.

Start by pouring 45 ml of Disaronno over ice. Then, add a few drops of fresh lemon juice, and top it up with some soda water before stirring all those delicious flavours together and pouring over ice. 

If you’re looking to elevate your creation, mix all your ingredients in a cocktail shaker before pouring them over ice in a fancy glass. You can also create a simple garnish using a small piece of lemon zest, or opt for premium soda water — but your regular variety of club soda will work just as well.

Another happy hour–worthy tip: fill your ice cube trays up with boiling water for crystal clear ice cubes that will enhance the look of your cocktail and allow the ice cubes to dissolve more slowly into your drink.

The final product is as versatile as it is tasty. It’s a personal at-home happy hour favourite and also a perfect (virtual) brunch companion. The unique and almond-y taste of the Disaronno liqueur is complemented by the sour tang of fresh lemon juice and fizz of the bubbly soda water. It’s like summer in a glass.

Ingredients:

• 45 ml Disaronno
• Fresh lemon juice
• Soda or sparkling water
• Ice

Method:
