The arrival of summer marks the onset of many other seasons. You know — patio season, fishing season, and of course, block party season.
The Strathcona Blocks Party is back for its fourth year and will be taking over the 800 block of East Hastings on June 14, 2025. Fun for all ages, this much-anticipated event is the perfect way to celebrate summer in style by supporting the community through live entertainment, local flavours, and lots of spirit.
Is that an orca?
Like with any good block party, you can expect a hub of activity, including a rotating lineup of live music and entertainment, oversized games, local vendors with special promotions, and a beer garden with a nine-hole mini golf course. Loser buys the next round!
Be sure to bring your appetite, because local favourites like Nami Vietnamese, Shameless Buns, and Mama’s Fish and Chips will have food trucks onsite.
And the Canucks might not be in the playoffs, but they’re still number one in our hearts. Fans will want to stick around for a special appearance by Fin the Orca, the team mascot. He can’t wait to hang out with fans and pose for photographs!
Family fun
No need to leave the kids at home — the Strathcona Blocks Party has plenty of fun for little ones. New this year is the Learning & Exploring Zone at Campbell Avenue, an interactive space that invites children to immerse themselves in the arts.
They can discover rhythm and sound using real instruments from Tapestry Music, have hands-on fun with arts and crafts, add some flair to a community mural, and hang out at the Reading Station to enjoy a story. Attendees are encouraged to bring children’s book donations, which will be collected and donated to local literacy organizations.
To make sure you visit all of the fun, grab a Blocks Party Passport to collect stickers for a chance to win a prize.
Say no to FOMO and mark your calendars for this can’t-miss summer event. To learn more and stay up to date on new announcements, check out the Strathcona Blocks Party online.
