If you live in Metro Vancouver and you want to make a web series, you could land $10,000 through Storyhive.

Storyhive is a Kickstarter-inspired online platform where local content creators can pitch their ideas for a chance at grant funding from TELUS.

Whether you are pro or amateur, Storyhive is open for your pitch, and you can rack up community votes to help you get awarded one of 15 $10,000 grants available in British Columbia.

Launched October 14, TELUS’ Storyhive unfolds in multiple stages, starting with the Pitch and Plan phase that runs to November 3. To get things going, content creators can use this time to submit a multimedia application for their story idea and a plan for production.

Phase 2 is the Vote and Promote stage, which runs November 10 to December 1. This is when TELUS publishes the applications online and the community votes to decide which projects get funded.

Starting December 8, Storyhive will award 15 projects their $10,00 grants, and for the next 12 weeks the projects are in the pilot production stage. The pilots will air on Telus Optik TV On Demand in Spring 2015, and another round of voting will help one finalist in B.C. receive an additional $50,000 in funding to produce their web series, along with a training and mentorship opportunity.

This is the second time TELUS is doing the Storyhive project. You can see the first season’s winners and their work online.
