Marissa Grootes is ready to be vulnerable.

Grootes is the creator and founder of STIL — a company that aims to design and create organizational products that were designed by women, for women.

The newest product launched by STIL is the Moderna Exposé tote, which aims to make women feel empowered by allowing the world to see who they really are.

With this line, STIL wants women to be vulnerable and share their stories with an online photo and interview series.

Grootes is the first woman to be featured and openly discusses how she was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and how the condition is allowing her to be open and honest.

“It was a blow. It still is and I feel ashamed. As a woman, especially in business, your strength is your power and I felt that was taken from me,” Grootes writes about her diagnosis.

Grootes explains that she “felt broken for a long time.”

“I really didn’t know how I would manage to continue doing what I love. With the help of my partner, I managed to turn my confusion and anger into determination because what I had built was just too good to just roll over for.”

One thing she says that she currently wants to expose the fact that she “is in the deepest gratitude of [her] life at the moment.

“Today I’m aware I won’t always have good days but I am good and I am staying positive because I’ve been able to give it my all. It’s almost a feeling of “I have nothing left to lose”. STIL brings me the utmost joy and allows me to steer clear of negativity and to persevere,” she said.
