Steve Nash Fitness World announces layoffs at all locations

Mar 26 2020, 11:55 pm

Earlier this month, Steve Nash Fitness World and Sports Clubs closed its locations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made on March 17 and applied to 24 locations across British Columbia, including Fitness Worlds, Sports Clubs, and UFC Gyms. In an initial statement, Steve Nash said that team members would be paid during the first two weeks of the closure to “lessen the financial burden and impact.”

Now, the company says that they’ve been forced to lay off their staff.

“We have had to make the difficult move to let go of our valued team members as we transition through an organizational restructuring during these tough and unprecedented times,” reads the company’s social media post.

It’s unclear how many employees were terminated in this process.

Steve Nash says that all customer memberships have been frozen and that they will be accessible when the company reopens.

Daily Hive reached out to Steve Nash Fitness World but did not receive a response by time of publication.
