Steamworks Launches Spring Saison

Dec 19 2017, 3:19 pm

Just in time for spring, Steamworks Brewing has released a new beer line to fit with the warmer weather.

The Steamworks Saison is a farmhouse style ale originating in Belgium.  Saison is an emerging style of beer to the BC Craft beer market that is being embraced by Craft beer lovers as their palates graduate from wheat ales, seeking more depth and layers in flavour profile.

The Saison is the inaugural release for Steamworks’ new brewmaster Caolan Vaughan. “It’s one of my favourite styles of beer and an ideal release for this time of year,”  says Caolan“This ale is brewed with the same Dupont yeast strain used for centuries of brewing in Europe.”

The beer has herbal hop characters blended with lively carbonation. Without being overwhelming, the Belgian yeast flavour provides crisp peppery notes with a hint of sweetness from orange, lemon zest and cloves.

In keeping with Steamworks whimsical bottle designs, the Saison bottle is an homage to the Burrard Street Bridge and its sometimes controversial relationship with bikes.

Steamworks Saison is on shelves in B.C. Government Liquor Stores as well as privately licensed retail stores in 650 ml bottles.
