ATMOSFEAR Playland's Newest Ride

Dec 19 2017, 12:50 pm

Update: The new ride will open at 10 am on Saturday July 16, 2011.

The PNE has proposed it’s newest ride to the City of Vancouver (COV) and it’s called The Star Flyer. It stands at 218ft tall, similar in height to the Hellevator as seen from the crappy photo above. It’s about time the PNE bring out a new ride. Not much is known about the ride right now. However, from what I’ve heard thrill seekers will be shot up 218 feet in the air and then spun around at dizzying heights. Sounds like fun. Hopefully the people in the surrounding neighbourhood, who moved there knowing full well an amusement park resides next door, aren’t against this as well.

The ride has been confirmed as VcB just got a press release from Playland. Here is an excerpt from that release:

Playland, beloved 101-year-old amusement park home to the largest selection of rides in the Pacific Northwest, is proud to announce the addition of a brand new 20-storey, two million dollar thrill ride. Currently known only under its manufacturer’s name “Star Flyer” the ride is one of the hottest rides in the global amusement park industry today and will be the first of its kind in the region and one of only two in Canada.

The new attraction, which will be free with admission during the Playland season, and part of the Fair ride passport, will open July 2011
