Squamish Valley Music Festival: Said the Whale

Dec 19 2017, 3:21 pm

In the lead up to the Squamish music festival, each Thursday I will be sharing a track from an artist on the line up. This week, I give you: “Loveless” by Said The Whale.

What can I say about Vancouver indie darlings, Said the Whale, that hasn’t already been said? Over the past five years, the band has truly made cemented their place in the Canadian music scene. They’ve achieved some amazing success including: touring all over the U.S and the U.K, winning a Juno award, getting Jim Byrnes (!!) to star in a music video and most recently, going on tour with Stars.

They’ve got a new EP dropping on June 18th and have been praised for their west coast/Vancouver vibe. I recently read a comment on YouTube that pretty much summed it their sound: “I live in Vancouver and they really do catch the essence of lying around in Stanley Park, Watching the water, Soaking in the sun. Its lovely.”  Thanks, YouTube user “CheezyLittleGrin”, you took the words right out of my mouth.
These guys always put on a great show and are definitely ones not to miss at Squamish Valley Music Festival. Also, this video is the best, amirite?!
