Newly elected District of Squamish councillor Peter Kent is keeping his promise of lighting himself on fire by setting a date on the calendar for when the stunt will be performed.

According to The Province, Kent’s fiery stunt will be performed in downtown Squamish on Friday, February 13, 2015. The proper permits are being secured and the event is being organized with the help of the local business association.

Kent is a former professional stuntman who has previously worked as a muscle stunt double for action actor Arnold Schwarzeneggar. During the last municipal election campaign, he pledged to set himself ablaze should voter turnout in the November civic election exceed the previous turnout rate.

The turnout for the municipal election on November 15 in Squamish was 41.2 per cent, an increase of 44.5 per cent over the 2011 election.
