Don Taylor’s last sports highlights show will be this Friday, according to reports from Shane Woodford of CKNW. It appears Sportsnet is ceasing operations of its Vancouver-based Sportsnet Connected show.
Yikes. I am hearing that #Sportsnet is parting ways with Don Taylor & Craig MacEwen. Consolidating hockey operations in #Toronto #brutal

Taylor later confirmed the report via his personal Twitter account.
Friday will be my last day at Sportsnet in favour of full time work at Team 1040. My first day shift in 30 years.#morefamilytime

This is bad news for Vancouver sports fans as far as I’m concerned, as it looks like Sportsnet will be drastically reducing their west coast presence.
All I’m going to say is I’m going to miss you @DonTaylor5. Highlight for me was working the outdoor set during cup final in 2011. #greatman

The Vancouver-centric broadcast provided a view that won’t be duplicated with a broadcast out of Toronto.
Don Taylor is a legendary sports broadcaster in Vancouver, dating back to his days with Sports Page in the 80s and 90s. Rather than pick up another job in television, it appears Taylor will be doubling-up at his other job with Team 1040 radio.
Glad to finally be able to share to the twitterverse that Bmac & @DonTaylor5 will be on together for a full 4 hrs 2-6 beginning Sept 8.
