Spectacularly intense double rainbow, brilliant sunset ends day of rain in Vancouver (PHOTOS)

Spectacular double rainbows followed by a jaw-droppingly beautiful fiery red, purple and pink sunset? This was probably not something Vancouverites were expecting to see earlier this evening after a gloomy and cold day of heavy rain.

Environment Canada’s forecast called for a risk of lightning and thunder in the evening, but it did not materialize.

As the sun was setting, it breached light under the thick cloud cover that was hovering and dumping rain over the region, causing the rainbows and brilliant sunset.

While cooler temperatures and wet weather was experienced throughout the day, summer has not disappeared. Five consecutive days of sunny and warmer weather in the low-20s is expected, beginning tomorrow until the end of the weekend.
