Ayurvedic Podikkizhi and other spa treatments at Shangri-La's CHI

We may not able to pronounce it, but Ayurvedic Podikkizhi is one of four new massage experiences that Shangri-La’s CHI, the Spa is offering.

Traditionally a part of an ancient detoxifying ritual, this Indian treatment uses compresses filled with coconut and rice to help with muscle tension and the release of toxins.

Who this is for

You’re looking for a different type of massage, one that is rooted in ethnic traditions. You like your massages more gentler, and you’re into the idea of detoxification versus massage therapy.

What you get

Lovely tea service on arrival, a private changing, lounging spa complete with a shower, tub and all the beauty amenities. The non-communal lounging space is great for those who are looking for some solitude and alone time.

Plus, you’ll take the two compresses home with you that can be used up to three times post-massage from the comfort of your own bathtub.

What else to consider

In addition to this treatment inspired by The Spa at Shangri-La’s New Delhi location, there are three more up for consideration originating from the Philippines, Thailand and China. Our pick? The Royal Duality Massage (Philippines) where there are two practitioners – and yes, four synchronized hands that will leave you feeling like royalty.

Cost

Starts at $250 per person. Book online or via telephone at 604-695-2447.
