South Vancouver Little League’s season just hit a new historical high after today’s Little League Canadian Championship final win in Valleyfield, Quebec.

The Vancouver players defeated Toronto’s High Park Braves 4-1 earlier in the day to take the national title. It was the climax to a near two-week tournament that began with their departure from Vancouver on Wednesday, July 30.

Of the 8 games played in the Canadian Championship, the South Vancouver Little Leaguers have won 6 of their games including today’s final.

The players are between the ages of 11 to 13 years old. The club has never been this far into the season, having also won their first ever provincial title against White Rock on July 28 with a 8-0 win.

South Vancouver will now represent Canada in the 75th Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, held from August 14 to 25. The team’s first game is against Mexico on Friday, August 15 and will receive national coverage on TSN.
