The streets have got their spark back! Construction is officially complete on South Granville, and now there’s a brand new outdoor destination for everyone to enjoy this summer.

Locals and visitors are invited to celebrate with South Granville Summer, a series of different events around the area.

These won’t be crowded, chaotic street festivals; they’ll take more of a European-style “linger” approach, inviting you to make the most of the beautiful, dedicated, liquor-permitted plazas (located at West 13th Ave. and West 14th Ave.) while you socialize, shop, and dine.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect.

Events to mark in your calendar

South Granville BIA

First up is thePlaza Premiere — the official opening party for South Granville Plaza East at Granville St and W 14th Ave. — on June 27. Think of it like a hard launch of your new favourite hangout spot. Expect an iced matcha bar, live art, local vendors, live music filling the air, and more.

Next, on July 17 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra will be playing classical, symphonic renditions of modern “girly pop” anthems. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” is coming right up!

Did someone say wine? GranVino Wine Walk is back on August 15, from 12 to 6 p.m. This will be a ticketed, walkable wine-and-nosh tour where local boutiques pair up with premier B.C. wineries to host fun in-store experiences and special promos.

Weekly fun

South Granville BIA

You can also expect weekly programming!

Shop local produce at the Graze Mini Produce Markets, which will be on every Thursday until September 24, and get some free exercise at Bend & Flow Yoga on July 12 and 26 and August 9 and 23.

Or, gather with friends for Plaza Pours Wine Tastings on July 9 and 23 and August 6 and 20.

And that’s just a taste of what’s in store. You can check the complete South Granville Summer Calendar to see what other events are on and when.

With the construction being over, the street is fully accessible, the plazas are more beautiful than ever, and the sidewalks are wider and provide more public seating. Plus, finding parking is set to be easier than ever (after the soccer crowds clear out, that is!) with added wayfinding signage and full-time street parking

Get out there and have a great summer, South Granville!
