Everything to know about the FREE summer events in Vancouver’s South Granville neighbourhood
Get ready for fun in the sun as South Granville Summer Social Club turns a beloved Vancouver neighbourhood into the hottest social club of the season.
Taking inspiration from Italian summers and aperitivo culture, South Granville will transform into an open-air social hub stocked with events for you to check out — and most are completely free to attend.
With events running until the end of August, here’s a look at what’s happening along the streets from Granville Bridge to W 16th Ave this summer.
Fun in the Vancouver sun
South Granville BIA/Beaté Schönborn
Every second Sunday through August, get in touch with your body beneath the trees at Vancouver School Board Park with free community yoga. Ditch your fancy studios and come connect with your community every other Sunday, from June to August between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. — no registration required.
And, you can belt out some sad bangers at the VMO Plaza Concert II: Sad Girl Summer on July 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Playing some of your favourite emotional tracks from Chappell Roan, Adele, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and more. The DJ set will start at 6 p.m. and crescendo into an emotional concert at 7 p.m. led by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.
South Granville Social Club will also be teaming up with local groups to host a mix of playful, small-scale pop-up events. Throughout the summer, you can pop by to see everything from lively karaoke to cozy book clubs perfect for introverts — all free to attend.
A summer blowout in South Granville
The big marquee event this summer is the GranVino Wine Walk on August 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sip your way through some of the best wines from B.C. wineries while visiting more than 20 participating shops and galleries!
Plus South Granville Plaza West at Granville St x W13th Ave will have activations, games, a DJ and even more unexpected delights — included with the ticket is a tote bag, tasting cup, and map. All that for $75? Now that’s something to toast about!
“We wanted to capture that summer magic. The kind where you linger a little longer, run into your neighbours, and feel like you’re part of something,” says Executive Director of the South Granville Business Improvement Association, Ivy Haisell. “It’s a club, but with no exclusivity. Just great energy, beautiful moments, and space for everyone.”
