Sobeys Inc. has reported that two employees in Vancouver and Richmond have tested positive for coronavirus.

The food retailer confirmed that a Pharmacy employee who was working at the Safeway in King Edward Mall in Vancouver (990 W King Edward Avenue) has tested positive. This staff member last worked on March 31

The second case in the area was a franchisee employee at the FreshCo No 3 & Williams in Richmond (10153 No.3 Road). The last day the employee worked was March 26.

Sobeys outlines that after each case is reported, they ensure the store where the individual worked is deep cleaned and sanitized.

“Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location, with store signage, outlining our steps to manage the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, with each case that is reported, we will deep clean and sanitize the store location.”

The company also says it is working closely with public health officials to investigate the teammates’ known points of contact and recent shifts and will notify all teammates who require self-isolation for two weeks.

Sobeys has a public record of all the confirmed cases in its company across the country.
