On Sunday afternoon, guests at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, B.C. were left stranded when an electrical malfunction caused the resort’s gondola to stop.

The emergency situation left 75 guests stranded around 3 p.m. with the last guests being evacuated by 9 p.m., according to The Golden Star.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort posted this update on Facebook this morning, and it seems the gondola has yet to be fixed:

Further to an electrical issue, the Golden Eagle Express Gondola was manually evacuated yesterday evening. With everyone safe, warm and fed, we apologize to each of you involved for the inconvenience. We are thankful that everyone is safe and credit to the talented team of professionals; Kicking Horse Mountain Resort teams, Golden and District Search and Rescue & Canadian Ski Patrol.

We are hopeful that the Gondola will be spinning later today, though currently is still on standby. We are offering skiing and snowboarding via the Catamount Chair & Pioneer Chair.

Kody Lapointe was one of the guests stuck on a gondola and managed to record the entire gondola rescue on video as him and his friend were airlifted to safety. Needless to say, they probably got a better ride than they expected when their day started.
