Dec 6 2016, 5:38 am

A 14-year-old snowboarder spent a few moments dangled precariously from the Emerald Express Chair on Whistler Mountain before falling from the chair on Saturday December 3.

At approximately 10:40 am, “the snowboarder slipped from the chair just below lift tower number three,”  Whistler Blackcomb said in a statement. “Lift attendants immediately stopped the lift and used rescue equipment to catch the snowboarder as he fell towards the ground.”

The chair’s restraining bar was not lowered at the time the incident occurred.

Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol arrived on the scene and transported the snowboarder to the Whistler Medical Centre. No information has been provided regarding what – if any – injuries the boy had experienced.

“Safety is of paramount concern at Whistler Blackcomb” and there  are “numerous safety initiatives in place,” the release added.
