Giant snow tunnels carved in Boston and Prince Edward Island to get around (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)
It might be an early spring on the West Coast, but over on the East Coast it has been snowing so much that some Canadians and New Englanders have resorted to digging fully enclosed snow tunnels to get around.
Last week, Marcel Landry of Summerside, Prince Edward Island got a bit creative when he found himself snowed in following a major snowstorm that dropped nearly a metre of new snow.
Using a hockey stick, he spent more than six hours digging a tunnel about six feet high and 26 feet long to his vehicle. There was another three feet of snow above the tunnel.
However, this job did not include the process of digging his car out: there is about 20 feet of snow on top of his car. Landry’s next goal is to dig another tunnel to his shed where his real shovels are stored.
Further south in Boston, Massachusetts, some avid cyclists also took it upon themselves to dig a 40-foot long tunnel through a mound of snow blocking access to a popular bike path. It was a process that took about eight hours to complete.
