Sneaker Con comes to Vancouver for the first time ever this February
Gather round Sneakerheads, because this event is for you.
Sneaker Con, affectionately dubbed as “the greatest sneaker show on earth,” will be coming to Vancouver for the first time ever this February.
The event is a widescale collection and collaboration for fanatics to browse, talk and learn more about their favourite brands and shoes.
“We started in New York in 2009. At the time, it was really a close-knit, tight community – conversations on message boards, trading shoes, meeting at sneaker stores,” explains Alan Vinogradov, co-founder of Sneaker Con. “It wasn’t so much about being a mainstream hobby like it is today.”
The event has since skyrocketed in popularity and seen phenomenal success since then.
In 2017, when Sneaker Con held their first Canadian event in Toronto, they had over 10,000 attendees and close to 150 vendors on site.

“It was very reminiscent of our first events in the United States,” says Vinogradov. “People were excited and they were very happy to be a part of this.”
That same kind of excitement is expected for Vancouver as well.
“We’ve had a lot of people that have participated in our Toronto and Montreal events that will be travelling over. We also have a great group of vendors coming from Seattle, Portland, and California. And you can’t forget about the local crowd,” he says.
It’s also the perfect place to buy, sell, and trade shoes. The event includes a trading pit, an open space for sneaker fans to swap pairs and take new items home.

“Bring some pairs, especially ones you don’t want to keep around,” Vinogradov explains. “Find it a new home or upgrade. There are people that have been looking for specific pairs and have been chasing them for a while.”
To help attendees buy, sell, and trade with confidence, the event will also include a Sneaker Con authentication team, who will tag shoes and ensure they’re 100% legit. There will also be a wide selection of streetwear and unique merchandise available on site.

“We’re expecting over 20,000 pairs in the building,” says Vinogradov. “Wheel and deal, negotiate, and you’ll find some amazing steals.”
While all vendors will be accepting cash, it’s expected that there will be a number of vendors who will be able to accept card payments.

As far as when to arrive at the event, that depends on what you’re looking to accomplish.
“People love getting there early, you’ll have fans line up as early as 7 am, which is great and we are more than welcome towards it. If you’re looking to come up on a steal, something worth your time, get there later in the day.”
Sneaker Con will take place on Saturday, February 9, from 12 to 7 pm at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
