Smart birds at UVIC learn how to open automatic doors (VIDEO)

Smart birds at the University of Victoria have found a way to open motion-sensor automatic opening doors.

Video posted on YouTube, captured by photographer Grant Hughes, shows barn swallows flying in front of the sensors to get in and out of the underground bike garage at UVIC.

“The swallows quickly learned how to trigger the motion detectors to open the doors and go in and out whenever they want,” wrote Hughes.

The birds have likely built a nest, safe from predators and inclement weather, inside the building.
