Great news for Yaletown coffee drinkers and lovers of all things baked, as Small Victory bakery and coffee house has opened up on Homer Street (near the corner of Helmcken).
“Founded on the principle of offering simple, home-style baking,” Small Victory offers a range of tempting sweet and savoury treats, in addition to perfectly poured espresso and drip coffee, making it a welcome addition to the Yaletown food and coffee scene.
The team at Small Victory understand that “people in their busy lives seldom have the opportunity to enjoy some of the simple pleasures of life: like a delicious coffee and a warm pastry,” and have set out “to provide the product, service, and space to allow people to do so,” said co-owner Qasim Nathoo.
Indeed, the bakery’s marble top coffee bar and row of individual tables, provide plenty of room for patrons to sit and enjoy their drinks and baked goodies in a modern yet inviting space.
Aside from the freshly baked cakes, muffins, croissants and cookies that line the bakery’s glass case, Small Victory also makes on site an array of crusty ‘country’ breads and artisan loaves fresh everyday.
Craving something more savoury or perhaps a little more substantial? Don’t despair; Small Victory’s full menu also features a selection of hearty sandwiches and green salads.
Acknowledging “the reality that neighborhood establishments are more often than not overshadowed by big box retailers,” Nathoo said that the Small Victory team want their patrons “to know the people that are making their food.” Thus, with everything baked in house, Small Victory aims “to be a neighborhood bakery where customers can eat in, and pick up fresh bread and pastry to take home.”
“It is important to us that we integrate, support and weave ourselves into the fabric of the communities that we operate within,” Nathoo added. “We started in Yaletown, but stay tuned because we have big plans for the future.”
Small Victory is the ‘real deal,’ not only is it a convenient (and delicious) place for Yaletown residents and workers to drop in and grab a take away espresso, but also a welcoming spot where a relaxed cup of coffee and a cookie or two can be thoroughly enjoyed.
