Small Business Profile: Monkey Butter

Dec 19 2017, 1:24 pm

Monkey Butter takes the peanut butter that we all know and love and puts a fun and sophisticated twist on it. Started by two local sisters, Kathleen and Gillian Gook this gourmet peanut butter is available in six flavours: white chocolate raspberry, dark chocolate, white chocolate pretzel, dark chocolate banana, salted caramel, and maple bacon.

This is not your standard peanut butter. The flavour combinations are interesting and better suited for an adult palette and the variety allows for a multitude of combinations. Imagine: maple bacon peanut butter on a fresh slice of apple! With a texture that is similar to Adam’s natural product, it definitely has the homemade taste that makes it a worthwhile treat.

My favourite had to be the white chocolate pretzel, followed closely by the maple bacon. With salty, sweet, savoury hitting your tongue, it’s definitely one of a kind. I’m a sucker for cute branding and packaging and this Monkey Butter is the best looking product in their category I’ve seen in a while. Take that Kraft!

Monkey Butter is now available at Granger Grocery (701 West 16th Ave) and Cardero Bottega (1016 Cardero Street) retailing for $8.99 for 375 mL jars. Find them on Facebook here.
