Vancouver Small Business Information Expo built for budding entrepreneurs

Is it time to learn how to best build and manage a small business in B.C.? If you’re living the entrepreneur life, the free Vancouver Small Business Information Expo can connect you with various government departments and non-profit organizations that can help get your feet off the ground.

Exhibitions and educational panels will touch on the business of selling to government, accessing financing, starting a small business, and driving innovation.

“Small Business BC’s mission is to ensure people who start or have a business in British Columbia have the relevant information, appropriate tools and resources they need to achieve a successful and sustainable business,” says George Hunter, CEO at Small Business BC.

“We’re delighted to be hosting, speaking and exhibiting at the 2016 Vancouver Small Business Information Expo and look forward to meeting face-to-face with startup entrepreneurs and established businesses who need help to grow.”

The Vancouver Small Business Expo will take place on February 1, 2016 at Yaletown’s Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. – Selling to Government: Interested in selling to the public sector? This panel brings together purchasing specialists from different levels of government who will help you understand the processes around government contracting at all levels in order to prepare your business to start bidding.

10:45 a.m. -11:30 a.m. – Access to Financing: Looking for sources of capital? Want us to show you the money? This panel will bring together government representatives who will provide you with information on various financing (loans and grants) programs and resources available to your business.

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. – Pillars of Start-up: Do you have an awesome idea for a business you’d like to start? This panel will bring together experts who can help you navigate the complexities of starting a small business and provide you information on the various government programs available to help you get started today.

2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – From Innovation to Business Success: This panel discussion on innovation will explore this question and the challenges faced by those on the path to commercializing new technology. In this evolving world, “good” is no longer “good enough.” Businesses must seek new and creative solutions to the challenges we face. You should check out these programs that support innovation!
