Is slow mo the next wedding trend?

From food to style to theme to tech, people getting hitched are looking to have their big day unique and with a cool new flare.

That’s what locals Riaz Meghji and Lori Massini wanted when they looked to capture the best day of their lives. Knowing how quick the moments would fly by, they wanted them slowed down to relive later, and that’s just what they got.

We chatted with Riaz about the wedding and videos, but first watch these:

Where was your wedding held and how did you decide on it?

We had our wedding on April 11, 2015 in Maui. We knew we wanted a destination wedding to keep it intimate and had never been to Maui before. Given that we are always up for an adventure, we figured Maui would be a good place to do it differently as we’d been to many weddings in Mexico.

Slow mo everything – why?

Everyone told us how much of a blur our wedding day would be. The great thing about our experience is we focused on enjoying every single moment. The Slow mo really captures such a wide range of emotions from all of the family and friends. Plus, they make my dance moves look passable.

Who produced the videos? How did they react when you wanted everything done in slow mo?

We produced the videos collaborating with a very talented videographer Marc Andre Laurin. He has a terrific editorial eye to show how the story unfolds. Slow mo is one of his many signatures.

Were you both happy with how it turned out?

We were both thrilled with the results. It’s such a great piece to share with those that couldn’t make it and for us to relive the magic until the end of time.

Favourite part(s) of it?

Seeing a video that represents pure joy on the faces of family and friends on what we consider the best day of our lives is just awesome.

How have people reacted to the videos?

Overwhelmingly positive response. The best reactions are from those that don’t know us, but still share the same enthusiasm. Even our dog Smiley shed a tear.

Do you think others will catch on and start doing the same?

We hope it’s something future newlyweds would want for themselves. Currently, we are reviving an old successful business idea that will be able to provide couples with their own unique movie to capture their moments. “Celebrity Receptions” will re-launch in 2015.
