After another successful summer, Slide The City is once again returning to North Vancouver for a two-day celebration.
This will be Slide The City’s fifth annual event in Metro Vancouver.
The city’s first event took place in 2015 and attracted 6,000 participants, making it the Utah-based company’s biggest single-day for attendance.
The following year expanded into a two-day event to accommodate the high number of participants.
Using inner tubes, sliders go down the hill along a four-block-long stretch of Lonsdale Avenue from Victoria Park to 4th Street, where there is a large finish line splash pool.
Thousands of others will also be along the sidelines and at the finish line to watch sliders go down the roadway at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
Other attractions for the weekend include food trucks and music around Lower Lonsdale. Parking for the event will be limited, so biking, walking, or transit is encouraged.
For those sliding, North Shore Neighbourhood House will offer a bag check, change rooms, and free shuttle to and from Victoria Park.
Tickets for Slide the City start at $20 and this year and go on sale beginning April 1, with early bird pricing offered for the month of April.
When: Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14, 2019
Time: 10 am to 6 pm
Where: Lonsdale Avenue at Keith Road, North Vancouver
Tickets: Early bird tickets are available starting April 1; $20 for a triple slide pass, $30 for an all-day pass
