This fundraiser invites Metro Vancouver locals to sleep outside for a critical cause

Jan 27 2025, 3:59 pm

The Covenant House Vancouver Sleep Out is happening Thursday, February 20, and it’s bringing individuals and teams from across the Lower Mainland.

Participants will raise money for Covenant House Vancouver by giving up their beds for a night and sleeping in a city alley to bring awareness to youth experiencing homelessness.

Sleep Out: Champions Edition brings together professionals, companies, influencers, and more in a profound act of solidarity.

Where the money is going

Covenant House Vancouver

Many youth who experience homelessness face a host of obstacles, and often come from traumatic backgrounds that can amplify or cause mental health issues. If left untreated, these mental health issues can manifest into debilitating outcomes.

This is one of many reasons why funds raised from the Sleep Out: Champions Editions will go towards Covenant House Vancouver’s Mental Health services.Ā

Through their strong partnership with Foundry, Covenant House Vancouver offers youth the space to address their mental health needs with Registered Clinical Counsellors who create custom treatment plans to help set them on a path towards independence.

How the fundraiser works

Covenant House Vancouver

During Sleep Out, you’ll gather at Covenant House Vancouver’s location in downtown Vancouver, getting a behind-the-scenes look at what they do before hearing directly from youth who’ve been impacted by their programs firsthand.

Then it’s time to prepare to sleep outside, with everyone grabbing a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard, where you can write the names of your donors and the reason you’re participating in Sleeping Out.

While the morning will come with your chance to head home, many youth don’t have that same choice — with more than 4,821 people not having a safe place to sleep every night in Metro Vancouver, while around 8% of those people are under the age of 25.

If this sounds like something for you, don’t sleep on this opportunity to raise funds and show Vancouver youth experiencing homelessness that you care, you’re an ally, and you support them.

So sign up for Sleep Out: Champions Edition today and check out the website for tips on how to fundraise.Ā
