SkyTrain delays in Surrey due to falling construction debris

The Expo Line is experiencing service disruptions in the Surrey section this evening after high winds caused debris from a nearby construction site to fall onto the tracks.

TransLink says outbound trains from Waterfront Station to Surrey are now terminating at Scott Road Station. There is still train service within Surrey, but only as a single-track shuttle train every 15 minutes between Scott Road and King George stations.

All train service was halted briefly this evening before a shuttle service began operation.

There were also some issues beginning mid-afternoon due to a “power distribution issue.”

All remaining B.C. Ferries sailings are also canceled for the night due to the winds.

• UPDATE at 10:10 p.m.: There are more train service disruptions after a tree fell onto the tracks between Nanaimo and 29th Avenue stations in Vancouver. As a result, both Expo and Millennium line trains are affected: Trains are running from Waterfront Stations to Commercial-Broadway stations, Joyce-Collingwood to King George stations, and VCC-Clark to Columbia stations. A bus bridge has been formed between Nanaimo and Joyce-Collingwood stations. There is no word on when regular service will resume.
• UPDATE at 12:10 a.m.: The issue in Vancouver with the fallen tree has been resolved. Normal service is resuming.
