Single in Vancouver: Not Your Average Brewery

Dec 19 2017, 2:10 pm

Impending upon the doorway to 1111 Mainland street, I couldn’t help but be distracted by the variety of male suitors sitting at the outdoor patio. With the choice of the dinning room or pub I took a turn to the left and without hesitation entered through the pub doors. It wasn’t until I stood with my back to the bar, analyzing my surroundings that I realized this was like no other pub in Yaletown. The contemptuous attitude was no where to be found and with that I ordered my first beer. Being a brewery, the beer choices were endless with no shortage of other cocktail options.

Seating up to 160 in the restaurant area, equipped with a large patio, couches for singles to get acquainted around a cozy fireplace, and a pool table it’s no surprise that The Yaletown Brewing Company has been voted the best brew pub in Yaletown on several occasions. Although this location fills up quite quickly on a Friday or Saturday night, I was surprised that I was able to refrain from screaming in the ears of the friends I was with; It was not overwhelmingly loud and the taste in music for the evening impeccable.

I sat on one of the leather couches scanning the room for potential eye candy when suddenly I was interrupted by a casually dressed handsome young man. With no dress code implicated I saw everything from suits to sweats. Answering the obvious initial questions upon meeting someone for the first time prompted a conversation on meeting singles in Vancouver. It seems women are not the only ones finding it extremely difficult to meet singles. Yet there I was, conversing with an attractive single man proving that this spot was in fact where I wanted to be.

No unfair majority of male or female was apparent and everywhere I looked I saw men and women socializing with one another. Needless to say I’ve officially added The Yaletown Brewing Company to my list of “spots to meet singles” in Vancouver.
