Significant West Coast Express delays this morning

Jun 20 2016, 9:03 pm

Metro Vancouver’s commuter rail service is experiencing significant delays this morning rush hour due to a mechanical issue with a train.

According to TransLink, Train 2 of West Coast Express heading westbound and terminating at Waterfront Station has been cancelled. Due to the problem train on the tracks, there are also major delays to Train 3, and it is not clear when it will arrive at Waterfront.

At this time, Trains 4 and 5 later in the morning are not affected.

West Coast Express only operates during weekday rush hour periods with five trains traveling from Mission to downtown Vancouver in the morning peak and then returning during the evening peak. Each one-way trip along the 69-km-long, eight station route takes 75 minutes to complete. Approximately 10,000 people use the service daily.
