Sightings of naked man on Coquitlam trail a concern for police

Dec 19 2017, 9:34 pm

Coquitlam RCMP is requesting for the public’s assistance to identify a man who has been hiking naked on the Crystal Fall Trail near Shaughnessy Street and Karley Crescent.

Police say they have responded to two sightings of the man, but at no point did he threaten or initiate conversation with anyone. The main concern revolves around his own public safety: police want to know why he is hiking without any clothes in the winter.

The area in question is one of the places we patrol regularly, but so far the man remains elusive,” said Corporal Jamie Chung in a released statement. “From talking to witnesses, we don’t believe the man was high on drugs or has a mental health issue. However, we do need to speak to him to find out why he is out in the cold without wearing any clothing.

The male is described by police as Caucasian, between 20 to 25 years old, 5’9″ tall with a slim build, and with a dark brown buzz cut hair. During one of the sightings, he was seen with a black backpack and wearing white ear buds.

If you have any information about the naked male in the Coquitlam trails, you are asked to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
