Two men were hospitalized in Surrey on Sunday afternoon, after a shooting in the 15300 block of 86th Avenue.

At 3 pm, Surrey RCMP were called to the area for reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they found used shotgun rounds, but no shooter or victims.

About half an hour later, police received word that two men had checked into a Surrey hospital with injuries “consistent with being shot.”

Officers attended the hospital and deemed the injuries non life-threatening.

Investigators believe the incident was targeted.

Vehicle fire connected to incident

A short time later, Surrey RCMP received a report of a vehicle fire in Cloverdale.

Once on scene, police determined that the vehicle was one of the two vehicles involved in the shooting.

The vehicle has been seized and will be processed for evidence related to the shooting.

“Shootings of any kind are a concern to both police and the community,” said Surrey RCMp Staff Sgt. Dale Carr. “However, a mid-day shooting in a quite family neighbourhood displays disrespect coupled with a complete and utter callous disregard for the safety of the community.”
