Shine Nightclub Closing Its Doors to make way for a new concept

Dec 19 2017, 7:48 pm

On September 27, after 14 influential years, Blueprint will be closing the doors to the iconic Gastown nightclub and nightlife staple; Shine.  Marking the end of an era, the entertainment company will be completing stripping the nightclub, remodelling and revealing the club’s exciting new identity late in 2014.

A melting pot of DJs, artists, producers, scenesters and club kids of all stripes, Shine proudly hosted everything from LGBT-friendly Sundays to dirty dancehall, retro nights, house, rap, grime, techno and big sexy funk. The club boasted an array of music, styles and personalities never before seen in Vancouver. As the go-to destination for the city’s music-forward club-goers, the intimate room was a home for many local artists who went on to international acclaim.

Of the closure, Alvaro Prol of Blueprint shares, “Shine has been an original in Gastown for years, and is one of our most beloved clubs. However, sometimes change is a good thing and we believe that Vancouver will fall in love with this new concept just as they have with Shine – we’re very excited to share it. Shine’s legacy will always live on through the talent and people that got its start at the club, and the memories that have been created there.”

Shine wouldn’t have been what it is today without the undying support of Vancouver’s club-goers. To bid adieu to the iconic Gastown nightclub, on September 27, Shine will be hosting a grand farewell party.
