Dec 19 2017, 8:16 pm

International Music Day is today, October 1, and Best Buy wants to celebrate with musicians and music lovers across Canada! Best Buy is encouraging you to share YouTube links for music you have created with the rest of the country – via comment on their Facebook page. This is a great way to showcase your talent and boost the views to your performances on YouTube. Each eligible Facebook comment also counts as an entry to win an IK Multimedia Prize Pack valued at $1,300.

About International Music Day

The International Music Council initiated the first International Music Day on October 1, 1975 to promote musical art in all sections of society. Since then, people all around the world have held music festivals and events on this day, to celebrate the creation and appreciation of music.

Best Buy has been helping Canadians to make music for years. They have a huge and constantly expanding selection of musical instruments that includes many of the top brands in the world like Gibson, Fender, Roland and Boss. They’ve also just started to carry a wide range of brass and wind instruments too.

For International Music Day, Best Buy wants to help musicians to share the music they have created, with the thousands of people who visit Best Buy’s Facebook page. Not only will this give musicians a chance for a little extra exposure, but it will also help music lovers to explore and discover some of the huge range of musical talent that abounds in this country.

How to enter

If you already have at least one YouTube video that shows off your musical talent, then entering this contest will be really easy.

You will just need to like Best Buy Canada’s (or Best Buy Quebec) Facebook page, and then add a comment to the Facebook contest post. That comment must include a YouTube link to a video in which you are performing music.

If you have not ever posted a YouTube video showcasing your talent, then now is a perfect time to create one. The video must show you creating music in some way, though you can also have friends and family performing with you too.

What will you post? A love song? An original composition? Perhaps a “Weird Al” type of parody song?

What you can win

One comment will be randomly selected from all eligible comments on the Facebook contest post. The musician who posted the comment will win an IK Multimedia Prize Pack valued at $1,300 from Best Buy.

The contest runs from October 1 to 10. Enter now!
