Shaquille O’Neal is coming to town, but not to play basketball.

The 15-time NBA All-Star is multi-talented. Shaq has become a popular broadcaster since retiring from pro basketball in 2011, starring alongside Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson on the Inside the NBA panel.

He also dabbles in EDM as “DJ Diesel,” which is what will bring him to Vancouver in August.

O’Neal is performing at Harbour Event Centre on Aug. 21, as part of his “Summer of Shaq 2026” tour. The tour will see the 54-year-old travel to Spain, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, and multiple spots in the United States before landing in Vancouver this summer.

Shaq is no stranger to Vancouver, having visited the city multiple times during his NBA career and in retirement.

The 7-foot-1 superstar rented a house in West Vancouver in the summer of 1999 to work with Dr. Alex McKechnie, who he credits with saving his career. McKechnie parlayed that into a job with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA titles with the organization. He won a sixth championship in 2019, after joining the Toronto Raptors.

“Came down to Vancouver, it was a lovely town. The nightlife was great,” O’Neal said in a 2018 interview. “It was one of the best summers I had.”
