Vancouver Police are once again searching for a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house.

This is the second report in one week of a charged sex offender not returning to his halfway house in Vancouver. Last week, a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for 46-year-old Gerald McLean after he fled his halfway house, making that event the third time McLean had been wanted for not returning to the residence.

Now, 46-year-old Richard Thomas Galt is wanted Canada-wide for the same crime. Police say Galt is a two-time federal sex offender on statutory release after serving a three-year and seven-month sentence for uttering threats, break-and-enter, and failing to comply with his probation order.

Galt has also been charged four times for sexual assault against women and children and is at high-risk to re-offend.

Vancouver Police describe Galt as Aboriginal, 5’8″ tall, 240 lbs., with long black hair and several tattoos, including a wizard on his left forearm, tribal design on the right forearm, and a heart and dagger on his left upper arm. He uses a cane to walk and was last seen in a light blue t-shirt and jeans.

Anyone who sees Richard Thomas Galt, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
