After issuing a public request for assistance earlier this week in finding convicted sex offender James Allan Pike, Vancouver Police announced on Friday that the 46-year-old was arrested Thursday evening in downtown Vancouver.
According to police, an officer spotted Pike near Jervis Street and Nelson Street around 7:30 pm, Thursday evening.
He ran from officers, but was found a short time later hiding in a parkade. He was arrested with the help of police dog Griffin and his handler.
Pike was treated at hospital for a dog bite and then taken to jail.
He remains in custody.
Pike is currently serving a long-term supervision order following a violent sexual assault in 2001.
He had been living in a Vancouver half-way house and failed to return as required on September 11, prompting Corrections Canada to issue a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.
