When the announcement of a possible seawall extension from Kits beach to Jericho was announced many Vancouverites loved the idea. The Park Board itself does not have the fund to make it happen, however, an anonymous donor was willing to gift majority of the extension through a one time $10 million donation. The Vancouver Park board has put off the decision to even consider the idea.
Perhaps the west side residents didn’t want other Vancouverites to encroach on their multi-million dollar enclave ? Or it might have something to do with the speakers at the park board meeting wanting to keep the shoreline the way it is.
Now that this is off the table, perhaps the donor would still give the park board the money to fix up certain areas of the seawall that badly needs some TLC?
