Our lovely friends to the south in Seattle are moving one step closer to adding some more professional sports to the Pacific Northwest. The City Council, along with King County Council have agreed to move forward with building the $490 million dollar arena.
The arena will be similar to Rogers Arena in the sense that it will be intended for basketball, hockey and live events. This is a HUGE step for Seattle as they are trying to bring NBA basketball back to the city after the beloved Supersonics left for Oklahoma City back in 2008.
The proposed arena is set to be built in the same neighbourhood as the existing Qwest Field, some of the Seattle Seahawks, and Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners.
What do you think of the potential rebirth of the Supersonics? Better yet, what do you think of the chance that an NHL team might be coming to Seattle?
