This SeaBus got a floating soccer stadium makeover just in time for the FIFA World Cup

Jun 4 2026, 9:06 pm

One of the four SeaBus ferry vessels is now boasting an eye-catching temporary look for its exterior livery as it makes its daily rounds transporting thousands of passengers each day between Waterfront Station in Downtown Vancouver and Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.

Just in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the “Soccer SeaBus” — the 2014-built Burrard Otter II — has been wrapped from bow to stern in a vibrant design.

The lower portion of the vessel’s exterior has been wrapped with Vancouver’s official FIFA World Cup branding — including the tournament’s logo and colours — while the remaining surface area of the exterior features purple imagery with thousands of cheering supporters, creating the impression of a packed soccer stadium crowd stretching across the ferry’s exterior.

This Soccer SeaBus ferry vessel joins TransLink’s fleet of seven “SoccerBus” vehicles — buses with soccer-themed exterior livery and a giant soccer ball at the front of the bus. These special buses are serving bus routes across Metro Vancouver on rotation.

The Soccer SeaBus and SoccerBus fleet will be wrapped with their special livery through the end of the summer.

As well, one of the two-car Mark II trains operating on SkyTrain’s Millennium Line has also received a similar soccer-themed livery.

In recent weeks, riders on the public transit system have also been noticing significant FIFA World Cup decorations and wayfinding at select public transit hubs, especially at SkyTrain stations in Vancouver.

But the SeaBus is not the only ferry adorned with official FIFA World Cup branding. Last month, Hullo Ferries revealed the exterior tournament branding for one of its high-speed ferry vessels operating between Downtown Vancouver and Nanaimo.

Increased frequencies and longer operating hours for SeaBus during FIFA World Cup

Beginning early next week, TransLink will start to shift into its FIFA World Cup operations plan of providing greatly enhanced frequency and capacity to reach Downtown Vancouver and Hastings Park.

This includes not only increased service for SkyTrain, buses, SeaBus, and West Coast Express, but also prolonged bus route detours due to road closure and several new temporary bus services to better accommodate the expected surge in unique ridership demand.

During the five-week-long tournament period, SeaBus services will run every 15 minutes, with 10-minute frequencies at select times.

The last sailing of each day during the tournament will typically depart from Waterfront Station at 1:22 a.m. But for three of the seven matches held at BC Place Stadium in Downtown Vancouver, as these matches are held in the evening, SeaBus will run one hour later than usual on June 13 (9 p.m. Saturday; Australia vs. Turkey), June 26 (8 p.m. Friday; New Zealand vs. Belgium), and July 2 (8 p.m. Thursday; knockout round of 32), along with more frequent and later SkyTrain service. The last SeaBus sailing on the three nights will be at 2:22 a.m., departing from Waterfront Station — about one hour later than usual.

On all seven days when there is a match at BC Place Stadium, SeaBus will operate with 10-minute frequencies for about 10 hours per day. In contrast, SeaBus normally has 10-minute frequencies six hours per day, only on weekdays.
