The road between Vancouver and Whistler just got a little cooler.

Prestigious publication Conde Nast Traveler has named B.C.’s Sea-to-Sky Highway one of its “Best Coastal Drives” in a global roundup that takes adventurers from St. Lucia to South Africa and Norway to Northern California.

The 409 kilometre portion of Highway 99 that connects seaside Vancouver to the mountains of Whistler is indeed a stunning trip.

Those who have taken the drive tend to rave. “Snow covered mountains cradling glistening lochs created a truly special experience,” says one reviewer at Trip Advisor. “This is the most gorgeous drive I have ever experienced. Absolutely nothing compares!” enthuses another.

Thanks to the 2010 Winter Olympics, the road saw vast improvements, and there is plenty to see and do along the way.

Here’s their list:

  • The Atlantic Ocean Road, Norway
  • Amalfi Drive, Italy
  • 17-Mile Drive in Monterey, California
  • The Road to Key West, Florida
  • Sea-to-Sky Highway, Vancouver, BC
  • Road to Soufriere, St. Lucia
  • Garden Route, South Africa
  • Isle of Mull, Scotland
  • North Coast of Wales
